Workshop on Smart Cities in Central and Eastern Europe

How can you be part of an international Smart City co-operation in the region - funded from Horizon 2020 Program?

Technopolitan was the co-organizer of the Smartpolis regional workshop held on 27 April 2016 at BME.

The Consortium led by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics together with the Fraunhofer Fokus Institute (Berlin) and the Urban Software Institute (Chemnitz-Darmstadt) started a planning project with the aim of establishing a Central European Smart City Center of Excellence, funded under Phase 1 of the Horizon 2020 Teaming call. The goal of the project is to catalyze and support the smart city related activities in the region. The center plans to deal with projects and work with researchers from the Central European region.

At the workshop after learning more about the concept of the planned Center of Excellence, more than a dozen of smart city related presentations were delivered by experts from 7 countries. The interested parties could establish guidelines for future co-operation by signing a Declaration of Intent.
